What Causes Lethargy, depression And Hot Flashes?

hi, im 42 and have had regular periods however, ive been having a small amount of bleeding on an off for the past year. I had a gastric band placed at the end of january and since then have missed 2 periods. I have not felt particularly well since the surgery and have suffered from , lethargy, depression, and terrible hot flushes night sweats and chills I am not sure if the two are connected or ive just suddenly started the menopause?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for putting your query on HCM.
I have read your case thoroughly and it seems you are having symptoms of menopause.Though symptoms of depression, lethargy and appetite disturbances are also common after bariatric surgery. If I had similar patient Iwould have started her with low dose antidepressant like venlafaxine or duloxetine which works good in menopausal symptoms. These drugs need to be taken for 6 to 8 months before tapering and stopping as advised by psychiatrist. So I would advise you to visit psychiatrist.
Hope I could solve your question. If you have further query, please dont hesitate to ask.
