General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Traumatic injury to head in an elderly person needs to be carefully monitored, irrespective of weather the swelling or external injury is present or not. Adequate bed rest with proper amount of fluid intake is a must. His blood pressure needs to be monitored often for the next 24 hours. Also some of the signs of raised intracranial tension due to concussion in the skull like dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness needs to be watched for.
In case any of such symptoms are present, he needs to be rushed to the nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
