Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am an 18 year old male from Mississippi.. recently, my ankle has suddenly locked Up on me. I can move it downwords, as well as side-to-side, with little to no discomfort... But I physically cannot move it upwards towards my shin, and if I try to force it upwards it feels like it is about to break. It feels like it needs to pop , like the way you pop your knuckles or your back.. Can you tell me whats wrong with me?
Based on your description of your condition, I think you may be suffering from tendinitis of ankle joint. This commonly occurs when one of the tendons or ligaments around the ankle gets swollen. I would suggest you to avoid heavy sporting activities and go slow for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. Usually, with this the tendinitis goes down. Even with these measures, if the complaints persist then you may require an X-ray to rule out any bony problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Santosh S Jeevannavar, Orthopedic Surgeon
