What Causes Long-term Use Of Painkillers?

Hi, I had an abdominal hysterectomy on 22 April 2015. My doctor removed my uterus and cervix, retaining both my ovaries. I was prescribed Panadol 4 times a day, Voltaren 3 times a day and Endone on a needs basis. I am taking the Panadol and Voltaren as prescribed. However I wake up just about every night between 1 am and 2 am in pain when I then take an Endone. My question is, how soon should I stop taking pain killers? Thanks
