My 8 month old son for the last few weeks has been pooping a LOT, really smelly, lots of mucous, undigested food, and sometimes it will be the colour of cooked spinach (he is not eating anything green) He's breastfed and eats some solids. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but he is loosing a bit of weight....

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Lots of stool, green color, mucus and loss of weight in a baby of 8 months on breast feeding and some solids can be due to an intestinal infection, in fact the intestines getting adjusted to the new bacterial flora.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the stool tes for a few days and also of blood.
IF there is an evidence of an infection the baby may need a course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection, metronidazole and probiotics for babies.
Also needed is the increased cleanliness of he nipples and the utensils that there used for feeding the baby.
Also watch for the baby for putting anything available in mouth which gives potential intestinal infection.
