Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your quer Hello doctor , My 21 months old son is having loose motion for past 3 days and his stool is very sticky green coloured. He is not taking any solid food and due to 9 to 10 times motion a day, his motion area got rashes and is painful for him to walk , do his potty and cries a lot while cleaning up his motion area. so please let me know if he got some stomach infection and its cure
This suggests acute gastroenteritis with diaper rash. If no fever and the stool does not contain blood/mucus, we need not worry. Give him Zinc suspension (20mg/ml) for 2 weeks. Give frequent sips of ORS after each stools to avoid dehydration.
To relieve rash, avoid frequent washing with soap. Instead, just flush with lukewarm water and mop dry with dry tissue paper. Applying a diaper cream also will be useful. If no relief in 3 days, fever comes or stool becomes blood stained, this might need antibiotics too.
