Hi,

What all medicines are given apart from lactic acid? Loose stools with blood staining usually indicates bacterial dysentery, and needs antibiotic treatment. I usually give cefixime for 5 5-7 days.

To improve tase, try giving by mixing with expressed breast milk. All food items the baby was already on, can be continued. Just avoid juices and sugary items. Give ORS sips after each stools to prevent dehydration.

Take him back to doctor if there is fever beyond 3 days, child is lethargic or not taking feeds.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
