Hi For several months now, I ve had loose stool. About six months ago, after the holidays and their festivities, I noticed I had pencil thin stools, which I assumed meant a blockage. So I took some psyllium husk and the stools became more normal, although never really thick, but enough for me to stop worrying. The other day I noticed my stool was loose and sticky, and it dawned on me that I d had loose stool for a couple of months. Not diarrhea but just very loose. I made an appointment with a gastroenterologist and will get a colonoscopy as soon as he can fit me in. Since making the appointment about five days ago, my stool has become very liquid, and has become light brown. For the past four days, I ve noticed some tiny dark brown specks in the stool, about the size of fleas, which might be dried blood or could be something undigested. My lower back on the left side is a bit sensitive, as is the left side of my abdomen. It s not painful, but feels full . I m 56 years old, and when I go on the internet every site talks about colon cancer. But other than these bowel symptoms, I feel fine, have plenty of energy, my skin color looks good, and I m wondering whether I m over reacting.
