What Causes Loose Stools With Mucus?

I've had loose, sticky stool for a few weeks, which is rather unusually. It worries me. The colour is kind of normal though. I actually had a fesces sample tested during the annual health check and it was normal. Could you kindly tell me if I need to consult my GP?

Hello,

Usually, a little amount of mucous may present in stools, if it is more, then that can be a problem. Mucous in stools may be due to Infection or inflammation or polyps of food intolerance etcetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking and caffeine drinks.

Also, avoid fried items, and eat green leafy vegetables. If symptoms not improved, then please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
