What Causes Loose Stools?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I have been having runny stools for a few days. I'm not dashing to the toilet all the time. It is just the usual amount of times, but has changed from solid to runny. What could be the cause?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The most common reason here is intestine infection with sort of bug or bacteria causing an alteration in gut flora mechanics.

In our clinic, I recommend hydration maintenance with plenty of liquids, probiotic as fresh yogurt for the primary modality of management; in follow up after a certain time period, if there are symptoms then I prescribe antibiotic with or without probiotic according to the clinical need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
