What Causes Loss Of Appetite?

Thanks... i have a friend who is 80 years old. She has COPD and is on oxygen 24/7. She recently had a major Infection of the left side of the neck and severe pain below the right ribcage. She was on Inhalers fo rth epast 4 years and the pain around the ribs may be due to the inhalers and compression gfractures of the disc and spine. She is all but 85 lbs and doesn t eat very much. Wiondering about her longevity?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. The loss of appetite is due to the current stress, she is under
2. She has lost severe weight and requires extensive caretaker support. IV food support can help in improving longevity. However, as her cause is more psychological, counseling and family support can improve things.
3. If she is able to recover from infection, which will improve overall pulmonary function, and hence further her overall well being, then it might help.If not, family support and round the clock caretaker support will be necessary.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
