What Causes Loss Of Sense In The Outer Thigh?

What part of your spinal cord and/or nerve roots control the feeling in your outer thigh? I had sudden pain a year ago followed by constant chronic neuropathy, burning, stinging feelings, ongoing over a year now... MRI s showed only mild narrowing of the cervical spinal cord area, there is a possible annular tear at C6-7, could this cause loss of feeling in large area of my thigh? (knee to hip, middle of front to middle of back, outer thigh only, inner thigh unaffected)... any ideas??

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello dear
Your complains seems to be related to meralagia paresthetica . The nerve affected is lateral femoral cutaneous nerve of thigh. It usually occurs secondary to compression at waist by tight clothing or belt, may be associated with severe weight loss.
Good thing is that it is not progressive and involves the said area without any risk of weakness.
You may take amitryptiline, pregabalin or gabapentin for some relief.
Hope you recover early
May consult a neurologist for proper examination and treatment.
Thanks
