What Causes Loss Of Toenail In Infant?

hello, my 8 month old has lost half of her baby toenail and I m unsure why this is happening. It happened to her left baby toe, about a week ago it happened to her right baby toe. She is a really good eater she has lots of fluids why does it happen and is there anything to make it stop?

Hi,

This occasionally follows a viral infection like hand foot disease. In such cases, this will be gradually replaced with new nail, as it grows. If not normalised in 3-4 months, we can evaluate further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
