What Causes Low Blood Sugar Level At Night?

I am a 56 year old Type 1 diabetic. I have been dealing with night time low blood sugars for 35 years. It has always been a rather simple task to get up and have a snack or juice. In the last 2 years the lows have manifested in a much different way. From running around the house,to diving on the floor,to chasing the pets around like a bear. I know it sounds nutty, but I am wondering what has changed. Is it my age? Length of time I have been diabetic?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Likely that the drug dosage is responsible for night time low blood sugar as the dose might be in excess of what needed to be consumed before the dinner.

In my clinic, I recommend HBA1c evaluation and close dose monitoring to avoid nighttime hypoglycaemia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
