What Causes Low Haemoglobin Count?

my 13 month old son was on iron supplement for teh past 6 weeks. just got him retested and his Hb levels didn't change at all, still 9.5 What could cause this as i am getting very concerned. the whole time he was taking iron he had frequent bowel movements, about 6-8 per day.

hello.. i do have concern regarding your son's health. the most common causes of anemia in children is blood loss due to worm infestations . the cause of anemia (i.e,low oxygen carrying capacity due to low Hb or red blood cell count below normal range for a particular age and gender)should be treated first. i suggest you to visit the paediatrician . he/she shall find out the cause for low Hb and treat the cause for anaemia and then the iron replacement shall work. i hope to have answered ur query.
