What Causes Low Iron Content And Tiredness In A 7 Year Old?

Hello,
My 7 year old son's adult teeth are beginning to emerge with noticeable yellow patches on the enamel. His baby teeth have been perfect & white. Medical history - had a small bowel resection at age 3 and 1/2 for intussusception. Made full recovery, but has since had problems with low iron (& ferritin) levels and although now treated, has been placed on a maintenance dose of 2.5ml iron supplement a day. He eats a good diet with the full range of food. Doing well at school but gets worn out easily. Any ideas?

Thank you,
Fretful Mother.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Thanks for the query.
History of surgery in childhood may be one of the reason, also i would like to see the reports of complete blood count so that we can interpret the cause whether iron deficiency or megaloblastic or some other reason reason.
Also tell about family history of any blood transfusion.
Most of the time it is nutritional .
So give give him lot green leafy vegetables, beet, jaggery etc.
Hope i helped you.
