What Causes Lower Abdominal Cramps?

My stools are small and look like orange flaky fish food at the bottom of the toilet. It doesn t smell like regular stool and there is nothing brown in it. I have horrible lower abdominal cramping. I don t take any melds and I don t have any health history of this. Sometimes it makes me have goosebumps and my insides feel like they are shaking. I have never had this before. I m a healthy 47 year old woman. This has been persisting for almost 48 hours now. Everything I eat (2 bites) goes right through me and I can t sleep because of the pain.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
This is a severe problem as you are unable to eat, has severe pain, changes in stool.
All this indicate colitis as the most probable cause.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor immediately for clinical evaluation, examination and get the appropriate investigations of blood, stool, ultrasonography of abdomen and X-ray.
Also get a prescription of an appropriate antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics.
Take anti-spasmodic, electrolyte solution and intravenous fluids and electrolytes if there is intolerance to foods and fluids to maintains hydration and electrolyte balance.
I find this answer helpful
