What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Chills?

I am 66, female, weight about 300, mostly in a wheelchair. I have been having pain in the lower abdominal region in the area of the colon. It seems like my colon is contracting or having spasms. I am having bowel movements a couple times a day. I have been having chills when the pain is worse. Pain seems more on the right side but much of the time it is more generalized to the lower region or higher. I have had this for about a week now.

Hello,

Presence of chills indicates underlying inflammation of intestine with alteration in gut flora mechanics via some bacteria or bug . Primary care with dietary measures, more liquids, probiotics, antispasmodic will give relief; later on, may or may not require antibiotic according to the clinical progress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
