What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain, Fever And Constipation?

I have been on Verapamil 240mg for several years, I have been taking Vitamin D 50,0000IU once a week for 2 weeks. I have pain in my lower abdomen for 2 weeks and a fever for the past 3 days. Also I have not had a bowl movement since taking the Vitamin D. I have tried several different over the count stool softeners, etc. and mostly a soft or liquid diet.
Will the Vitamin D interact with the Verapamil to cause this condition?

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
I can understand your concern.

The dose for Vitamin D is very large.
The recommended dietary allowance for adult is about 600 international unit/day.
Doctors may prescribe higher doses to treat medical conditions such as vitamin D deficiency, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. However, these prescription doses are only meant to be taken for a short period of time. High-dose vitamin D taken for several months has been shown to be toxic resulting in hypervitaminosis D intoxication which can cause constipation, raised body temperature, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc.
Besides, Verapamil is also known to cause constipation as one of its major side effect.
So in your case both the drugs are known to cause constipation.
You are advised to kindly consult the doctor for further evaluation and management.
Regards!
