What Causes Lower Back Pain And Mood Swings?

I ve been having mild cramps about a week after period. I am on the pill and haven t missed a day. I ve also been constipated and my nipples have been sore all week. After a week of cramping and sore boobs I saw my doctor and she ordered a blood pregnancy test. The test came back negative and the other tests came back clear. She also checked my thyroid and said it was fine. The cramping is now mostly gone but I now have lower back pain and I have been having mood swings like crazy. My period is due in four days. Should I go to the doctor again? Suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is a common perimenstrual symptom and is quite common among young females. As a first like of management you can take analgesics like Mefenemic acid (Meftal) for pain relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated. Wishing you good health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
