Am asking for a friend. She is 75, and in exercise class last week was complaining about lower back pain a little bit to her left side. She is now constipated and gassy. Yesterdat when she reached up to pull down something form her cupboard, she felt a sharp pain then dull ache. Same thing happened again today.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Mostly to the side means that it is most likely muscular in nature though there are other causes as well. She may need to be seen to find the exact cause. Treatment may include rest, use of a warm compress on the area for 15 to 20 mins- 2 to 3 times daily and anti inflammatory medicines such as Ibuprofen.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
