What Causes Lump In Knee After Getting Scraped?

In a fall all my weight went onto one knee. I got a scrape on the knee but was able to walk on the leg right away. The scrape healed but a hard lump without any bruising discoloration developed on the knee cap. That lump has remained the same size even after a couple of months. While the skin in that area of the knee has a feeling of stiffness I do not have any pain. What is causing the problem and what type of treatment does it require?

General Surgeon 's  Response

hi.

it is best if you consult with a doctor, preferably an orthopedic surgeon with regards to your knee. a medical and physical examination will be of great help. it might be an inflammatory or a fibrotic reaction. but is best evaluated clinically. further diagnostics, such as imaging (x-ray or mri) and management will be directed accordingly.

hope this helps.

good day!!
