What Causes Lumps On Either Side Of Groin In An Infant?

Hi, my 14 month old daughter has a large lump which appeared over a couple of days. She has been to see someone who thought it might be a blocked saliva duct but he wasn t sure. I m really worried about it as it is disfiguring her face. She also has a lump either side of her groin.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Without seeing a picture to learn more specifically where the lump is, its size, and what the overlying skin looks like, my reply to you is limited.
The lump on her face(?) or under her jaw(?) might be a lymph node, tumor, or mumps(if she is not up-to-date on her immunizations and has been exposed to someone who has mumps). Children can often get small lymph nodes felt in their groin(both sides) as reaction to scratches or bruises on their legs. which are not worrisome. However, your daughter may have a lymph node in her neck as well as her groin areas. Because of this, she needs to be seen by her primary care physician AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
