Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have partially maroon stools with a small amount of bright red as well. I have had a test where they inject a liquid and take pictures or images and there is no sign of colo cancer or other concerns. Yet the marron stools come and go. Could this be from me overdoing my training to hard on the weight machines or from spicy food (rarely eaten)?
Maroon colored stools along with bright red indicate that there is a bleeding and barium enema and such investigations are only preliminary.
There are many reason for such an occurrence:
-Small telangiectasia of blood vessels. -Polyp in colon. -Small ulcers. -This can best be diagnosed by the colonoscopy and biopsy. -Also see that you are not taking any medications like Aspirin or so that can cause changes in coagulopathy and cause bleeding. -Tests of stool and blood helps further. -CT scan of abdomen may be needed.
All these things will give a definite diagnosis and thus a proper plan of management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
