Dear- in COPD there is an accumulation of carbon dioxide which can bring this odor to the stools. It is hard to control, specially in end stage lung disease.
He needs to keep adequate oxygenation with at least 12 hrs nocturnal oxygen replacement continous at night. That will help to prolong his life, decrease the carbon dioxide and feel better. I hope that my advise will be helpful.
