What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth While On Lisinopril, Pepcid And Mylanta?

Metallic taste in mouth..... medications I take are Pepcid, Lisinopril, and Mylanta. Also kind of a burning sensation with metallic taste. Could this be indigestion, heartburn, or side effect from medicine? I do brush my tongue twice a day and use mouthwash twice a day as well.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain metallic taste in mouth along with burning sensation seems to be a side effect of Lisinopril as it is an ACE Inhibitor that is used to lower the blood pressure by doing peripheral vasodialation..

This is a common cause of metallic taste/altered taste in mouth and can be associated with burning sensation..
In case if you also have acid reflux problem it can have an additive effect n burning sensation and altered taste..

I would suggest you to consult you treating physician and get evaluated and he can either reduce the dose of medication or change the medication for relief from the symptoms..

As of now you can chew sugar free chewing gums, suck ice pops and drink plenty of water..
You can gargle with a numbing mouthwash to relieve burning as well as you should take a low spice diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
