Hello Umaand welcome,
I understand your concern.
Please do not worry. About 30% of pregnancies are lost as abortions and some are lost even before the period is missed so women do not realize that they were pregnant.
The common causes of abortions are infections, genetic defects in the baby and diseases in the mother ranging from
hormonal issues to medical illnesses like heart or
kidney or any chronic condition.
If there is one abortion we do not usually investigate for the cause as they are common. If there are repeated abortions then we try to look for the cause. If you want to get investigated I suggest that the TORCH test, VDRL, Blood sugar and
thyroid are the initial tests that must be done. Further testing depends upon the results of these tests.
I also suggest that you use
contraception for the next 3-4 months and then try again. Take tablet
folic acid for 3 months before planning
pregnancy. It helps to prevent brain defects in the baby. Also see your doctor early the next time you miss your periods and use drugs like
duphaston to help prevent abortions.
Do not worry as abortions are common and not always repetative.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
