What Causes Mood Swings And Anxiety While On Birth Control Pill?
My daughter has been on this birth control since June. She was taking it to regulate her period. Almost immediately we noticed mood swings. She has recently started her first semester at college. She has had issues with anxiety before but is really struggling with it. We keep telling her its because of her new start but now Im wondering if maybe the birth control is contributing to it. Wakes up with panic attacks. She doesn t want to be in public places with a lot of people and she is feeling depressed.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concerns for your daughter. Birth control pills can cause mood swings and anxiety as side effects. These symptoms generally appears during the first few days or weeks after the commencement of the pills. It should subside on its own gradually. In case it doesn't, or it becomes more severe, then you need to consult Gynecologist and should go for change in medication which would suit her. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
