What Causes Mood Swings And Leg Cramps Post Cervical Epidural Procedure For Neck Pain?
On August 6th I received a cervical epidural for neck pain. Since then I have noticed mood swings, cramping in my legs and feet, weight gain, and now as of 2 days ago I started having a rash. I have done nothing different, changed any soaps, perfumes, etc. the epidural is the only thing I can think of that I have done in the last 30 days differently. I was just curious if these things could be caused from the epidural?
As per my clinical experience, there are many of the side effects of epidural (steroid) shot as: - Increased localised pain at the shot site - Headache not dependent upon position - Anxiety - Flushing face - Nausea, vomiting - Fever - Lowered immunity and increased chances of infection - Spinal cord infection as osteomyelitis or else - Others
Though weight gain, mood swings and body rashes are not routinely encountered ill effects. You must approach your treating consultant for further guidelines in this regard please.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
