What Causes Mucus And Blood In Stools?

Hello, I am 18 years old and about five years ago I noticed blood in my stool. Although the blood lessened and only happens very occasionally now, I have mucus in my stool somewhat regularly. Sometimes I have blood in mucus on my stool or just alone and a for awhile a few months ago I was having pebble like stool every day, but that stopped. I am worried it could be colon cancer, could it be any other things?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my surgical experience, the presence of mucus with blood in stool indicate underlying inflammatory condition of the intestine or colon as Crohn's or else.

It is less likely to be part of cancer etiology, but a diagnostic colonoscopy is the real demand of time here.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
