What Causes My 6 Year Old S Frequent Bowel Movements?

My daughter is 6 years old. She has struggled with constipation and holding her bowel movements. But, we were past that for about 6 months. Now, she has frequent, soft and ver small bowel movements. She will go to the toliet 6 times in a hour and only pass dollar coin sized movements each time. Help... please.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there .

Thanks for writing in.

Have you tried giving her probiotics ?

Is she drinking enough water .. at least 6 -8 glasses of water a day?

I would advise a well balanced diet along with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

In spite of all these measures, if symptoms still persist, visit a pediatrician. Get a stool routine examination done.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
