What Causes My Infrequent And Painful Bowel Movements?

im 18 and throughout my life I have had a hard time pooping. It s not that I can t poop, it s that I poop around twice a week, and the poops are large and oftentimes clog toilets. Pooping has always been somewhat of a painful but relieving experience for me, I wanted to know if you could explain what is happening that makes my poops seldom and painful?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

These symptoms relate to constipation and it is due to diet only and less water intake. Try to avoid eating fat containing food, like junk food. It is advisable to eat more fiber containing diet, like green leafy vegetables. Increase water intake, drink water even if you are not thirsty. Keep regular habit of defecation, wait until you defecate completely and do not exert force while defecating. You can try Isabgol, it is the good stool softener.

Hope this information helps.
