What Causes Nasal Discharge When Lying Down In A 2 Week Old?

My granddaughter is 2 weeks old and has been having a clear fluid that pumps out of her nose even when she is lying down. It has happened 5 times. Her ped doesn t seemed concerned. I have never seen this before. It also occured when she was spitting milk up at the same time. I have researched and cannot find a reason this would occur.

Good Morning .
Your daughter is only 2 weeks and if she has clear fluid from her nose with pressure and without pressure ,it is most likely a fluid that covers the brain that is draining out through the nostril. It is called CSF rhinorrhoea and most likely there is a small connection between the nose and the base of skull. It has too be looked into .Please take your baby to a pediatric neurosurgeon and he will have X-rays done ,identify the leak and suggest methods to close it.Best of luck
