What Causes Nausea After Taking Dulcolax Stool Softener?
Hi. I took two dulcolax stool softeners last night and woke up nauseous this morning. This happened to me once before but after I went to the bathroom the ill feeling went away. I took two last night and it happened again but this time I have a fever. Needlesstosay I will be throwing them out but was wondering if an allergic reaction to the med could cause a fever. Thanks!
Hello Dulcolax i.e. Bisacodyl 5-15 mg tablet . Now note down the side effects and you will get the answer your question. This is stimulant purgative and it produces fluid evacuations and morphological alteration in colonic mucosa so act as stimulant. It also produces nausea , allergic reactions as skin rashes, fixed drug eruptions and this produces fever . Skin reaction , eruptions , nausea and fever are not uncommon symptoms for dulcolax. So next time if you need purgative take another brand ( dulcolax is stimulant purgative ) like liquid paraffin or osmotic purgative. But the best way is to consult a physician and get his opinion as self medication is not good for health. Good luck.
