What Causes Nausea And Heartburn After Undergoing Endoscopy?
Feeling dizzy and nauseous day after a colonoscopy and endoscopy test. I cannot walk around or move a lot without feeling really lightheaded and dizzy. I m not dehydrated and I am eating regularly. The nausea seems to go away when I lay down but comes back when I start to get up and walk around. I m not feeling weak or tired and I got a lot of sleep when I got home after the procedure. The nausea is usually followed by some bit of heartburn or acid type feeling in the stomach. I don t have a fever and I don t have the chills. Are these normal symptoms after this procedure or should I be concerned and contact my doctor?

Your symptoms may occur for upto 2days after this procedure (endoscopy, colonoscopy).
If there were sedatives or anxiety medications used, the effect may last for up to 36 to 48 hrs.
With instrumental manipulation of your throat, esophagus, and stomach, some amount of irritation (heart burn, sore throat, gastritis) may occur.
If it is too bothersome, worries you or doesn't ease up after 2days, see your doctor to check if everything is in order and for some medications to ease your symptoms.
If you develop a high fever or severe abdominal pain, please visit the ER right away.
