Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 63 y/o female. I enjoy vigorous exercise, but the day after I do I am exhausted. Yesterday I did stair climbing, up and down, for approx. 30 minutes, plus some arm work and a 4 mile brisk walk. Last night I experienced cold sweat, nausea and vomiting. Today, exhaustion. Should I be concerned?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Experiencing cold sweat, tiredness, nausea and vomiting after exercise could be due to two reasons: 1. Electrolyte disturbances and lactic acidemia. 2. Ischemia to the heart. Kindly get the following tests done: 1. Serum electrolytes. 2. Electrocardiogram. 3. Echocardiogram. 4. Serum CK-MB levels and Cardiac troponin levels. Electrolyte imbalance can be easily corrected by intake of Oral Re-hydration Solution (ORS). Also drink good quantity of water to keep yourself well hydrated. In case it is due to cardiac origin, then you need to consult Cardiologist or Physician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
