Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Nausea And Vomiting While On Pentid And Hydroxyurea?
hi, my sister is using pentid 400 and hydroxyurea by the prescriptionnof a doctor , the doctor told she has to use it regularly, but she feels nausea ,vomiting sensation and bitter tongue due to them, she doesnt want to use continue them. what she should do
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query. I appreciate your concern for your sister. Hyrdoxyurea is known to produce these gastrointestinal side effects, but is a very important medicine in the treatment of your sister's illness. If you let me know the details of the illness for which she is taking it, I would be able to give a better opinion. My suggestion is that she should discuss with the treating doctor and see what can be done, whether any alternate medicine is possible etc. She should not discontinue the medicine without her doctor's consent. She may take an antacid or a prokinetic medication for relief of her symptoms. I shall be happy to answer if you have any other query. Wish her quick recovery Dr. Noble Zachariah
