What Causes Neck Soreness With Jaw And Neck Shooting Pain?

On Friday I woke up with a sore neck. As the day went on I had severe pain shooting to my jaw and neck from where the cord is located. I went to emergency room a nd they did a CT scan, but it did not shown as What the problem was. I have previously had 3separate anterior fusions. The WE have sent me back to my neurosurgeon

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you may suffering from acute disc prolapse of cervical spine . I thought so because you have severe pain. I treat most of my patients empirically by below mentioning methods on clinical grounds only. Heat and analgesics are soothing. Diclofenac/ibuprofen can be effective but in this condition pain is severe so sometimes tramadol is given. Pain relief may take few weeks. Rest to cervical spine(neck) is most important till pain is relieved. Cervical collar can be used to prevent unguarded movements. You may need to done MRI lumbar spine as disc prolapse as CT may not show disc prolapse. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
