Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on fluconazole for the past 2 weeks (dosage - 1 tablet once weekly for 4 doses). Since taking it I ve been experiencing stiffness in my neck and shoulders with aches and pains. I m not sure if it is related as I do have a slight rotater cuff issue, but this is extreme where I m having trouble sleeping and moving my neck around. What do you think?
This is not due to fluconazole. It is most probably due to rotator cuff issue. Fluconazole does not cause neck stiffness. Advice 1. Take rest for few days 2. Ibuprofen 600 mg per oral when pain is intolerable 3. Apply Relaxyl ointment every 6 hours of other over the counter muscle relaxant 4. Apply cold compression with ice pack every 8 hours 5. Sleep with correct posture. Sleep supine and not on sides. 6. Investigation – MRI of shoulder joint to look for rotator cuff issue 7. Consult an orthopedician if your pain worsens or does not resolve in few days Thanks
