I feel desperate, like I need to breath but not out of breath, hot, my neck feels stiff and I had a very bad headache, it felt like the back of my head was pounding. I feel very anxious and nervous, like if I need to run outside to be able to breathe.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Judging from your description the most likely origin for your symptoms is anxiety. It is often manifested through those breathing issues, increased muscle tension with tension type headache. Relaxation exercises, moderate physical exercise and yoga are good starting points to help deal with the symptoms. If not enough then medication may be considered. The choice depends also on how long you've had these issues. For short term use a Benzodiazepines like Alprazolam may be taken, but not to be taken beyond 2-3 weeks due to potential for abuse. If a chronic issue and long term treatment is needed an antidepressant is the most appropriate choice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
