What Causes Negative Pregnancy Result And Missed Periods?
Hi, LMP sept 24. Had unprotected sex on oc 11. Took nordette 21 as ECP on oct 14 4 pills then another 4 after 12 hrs. Did not have withdrawal bleeding. Im on a 28 day cycle and expected period for oct was last oct 22. I did home pregnancy test and result is cleat negative. I still dont have my period. Any chance of pregnancy?
You had unprotected sex on 11 October and you have taken Nordette as an Emergency post coital contraceptive pill. In fact Nordette contains ethinyl estradiol and Levonorgestrel and is not an emergency contraceptive pill but is a regular birth control pill.
So considering the gap between the unprotected intercourse and the wrong pills you have consumed, there are good chances that you may not be protected from the pregnancy.
You missed your period on 22 October and immediately performed the urine pregnancy test. You have performed it too early. These tests are reliable after a week of missed period; earlier they may report false negative results. So wait for a week and then perform the test on overnight morning first urine sample.
Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test which gives reliable results 10 days after the unprotected sex.
If you are not pregnant, the delayed menses could be attributed to the pills you have taken. They may delay the menses by about a week or so.
I hope this clarifies your doubts.
