What Causes Numbness In Front Of Knee?

Just recently I have experienced numbness in the front of my left knee. It will come and go almost instantly (2-3 minutes). I thought it might be cold weather but after feeling my knee-cap, it was warm. It felt as if it was cold; like I was cycling in cold weather. My knee does not hurt. I do a lot of walking/hiking/cycling.
