What Causes Numbness In The Big Toes?

Both of my big toes are completely numb. No other toes or anywhere in my feet. I just was discharged from the hospital for a spider bite on my right forearm that got infected. They had to do surgery to remove the necrotic tissue. I was placed on antibiotics and released. The numbness started a couple days after I was home. It s been 3 weeks since I ve been out of the hospital and no change. Still numb. No tingling or pain just numbness.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The numbness in this region could be related to several problems: a pinched nerve, high uric acid levels, etc. Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:

- complete blood count
- uric acid plasma levels
- blood electrolytes.

A nerve conduction study could help investigate for possible neuropathy or a pinched nerve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
