Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 16 year old female. I have been having been losing the feeling in my feet often ever since i was rammed into by a girl in basketball, i was knocked over and hit the ground pretty hard. When i sit down for a couple of minutes,or when i run and even sometimes when i m just standing or walking my feet and even my ankles go numb or get pins and needles. This happened about 3 weeks ago. Why is this happening? Is it connected to when i was knocked over or is just a coincidence?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
Such symptom can be caused by insufficient blood supply to the feet or nerve compression. If your feet get cold and pale with the numbness and the numbness goes away when you do stop walking, arterial problem (like arterosclerosis) is the most probable reason. You may have also calf pain with this issue. If your feet are warm and do not get pale and you have back pain, spine disc problem is the most probable reason. In case of arterial problem, please consult general surgeon at first. If the numbness seems to be caused by spine problem, you should consult orthopedist.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
