What Causes Numbness In The Lower Lip?

I had an endoscopy on Friday and I still have numbness in my lower lip. I called the office and they told me to go to the Er and have a face xray. I don t believe you can see nerves on an X-ray. It appears that I also have a traumatic ulcer on my lower lip. How long should the numbness and ulcer last.?What would you recommend?
