What Causes Numbness On Toes After Recieving Tetanus Shot?
Yesterday I returned from a work trip in Manila, the Philippines. I was bitten by an insect (possibly a spider) on my left ankle and it swelled to double it s size and blistered. I visited the emergency room and was given a tetanus shot and some antibiotics as a blood test result showed I had an infection. I have got home and once the swelling died down, I seem to have no feeling in my toes and they feel very numb. I am worried sick this is something more serious!
Hello, Welcome and thanks for your query. Certain venoms are neurotoxic, meaning they can affect the nervous system. This can produce loss of sensation if it affects the sensory system or weakness of muscles if it affects the motor neurones. In most cases recovery occurs over a period of time and there is nothing for you to worry if the loss of sensation does not spread to other areas. Take Care
