Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am actually asking for my son, who is a marine, he was telling me that his toes are going numb all the time and I was not for sure what is going on. Also, the balls of his feet are going numb also. There is no history on my side of diabetes and/or neuropathy, as far as his father s side I am not for sure we have been divorced for 17 years and I am unable to ask him. I do know his father s father had some health problems as he got older. Do you know what could be causing his toes to go numb? Thank you in advance
Toes getting numbness is mostly due to serum B 12 deficiency. Marines can develop such problem due to lack of balance diet when they are on missions. I would suggest you to get his serum B 12 estimation. If it is on lower side than it would be better to give him methylcobal tablet daily. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if there is any other follow up questions. Thanks.
