Hello,
You have history of
Osteoporosis. Now you are experiencing numbness and tingling in the arms and legs. In serious cases of spinal osteoporosis, the nervous system is affected and you may experience numbness, tingling, or weakness. Diabetes is one of the most common causes of
peripheral neuropathy causing tingling and other symptoms like numbness that affect both hands and go up the arms. Take vitamin B rich food in your daily diet or take supplements. Vitamin B supplementation (especially B-3, B-6, and B-12) is effective to control the symptoms but may take some time.
Massage,
hydrotherapy, exercises, Epsom salt baths is also effective. Avoid alcohol intake or addictions if any. Braces and specially designed footwear can help reduce nerve pressure caused by conditions such as injury,
tarsal tunnel syndrome, etc. Get clinically examined by a
Neurologist and get all required blood analysis and imaging tests done so that treatment can be started. Your treating doctor may give you conservative treatment (
corticosteroids, antidepressants). He may prescribe Gabapentin and
Pregabalin that help to bring relief from discomfort. Stay away from addictions if any. Take adequate rest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
