What Causes Orange Mucus Diarrhea?

I just had a,hysterectomy, had a post op infection...tons of antibiotics ...last night i ate pasta and sauce for dinner, got horrible heartburn all night long, Today I wake up and feel weak and have orange mucus diarrhea...what causes this? Should I ride it out? Or should I contact the dr?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Orange stools with mucus might be suggestive of intestinal infection,mostly amebic /mixed/ bacterial infection.

a light diet with plenty of fluids (with salt & sugar) many a times cures the problem.

In case If not,then kindly get your stools checked, to pin point the causative organism.

You will need some specific drugs (according to the causative organism) like Metranidazole,antibiotic like Norfloxacin, antispsmodic drugs to control the pain will cure.

Please consult a doctor for specific prescription.
