What Causes Pain Above The Navel With Nausea And Diarrhea?

I have been having pain in the area above my belly button for six weeks. Sometimes I m also having pain in the RUQ area. The pain usually starts 1-2 hours after eating. The best part of my day is in the morning before I eat. The worse part of my day is the evening. By evening my entire I m just miserable with pain, nausea, and diarrhea. It is much worse with fatty foods which I have stopped eating now. I have also been having diarrhea the entire six weeks. Gallbladder US negative. HIDA scan showed an EF of 89% which my MD said was negative. Any suggestion s of what to do now? Is the HIDA scan really negative with a EF of 89%?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of pain in the area above the naval, for 6+ weeks, diarrhea, nausea, increase in pain hours after food, more so with fatty food, Gall bladder on US and HIDA scan is negative.
Yes, 89% is normal or HIDA scan functioning of gall bladder.
The probable reason looks to be pancreatic insufficiency and/or duodenal ulcer which get instigated once the liquefied food is released from the stomach after 2 hour of eating.
I would advise you the following:
Upper GI Endoscopy
ERCP with endoscopic ultrasound called Endo US.
MRCP.
Tests of blood: CBC, Liver function tests, amylase, lipase,
Stool for routine and occult blood.
Tests of urine.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon.
All these helps for proper diagnosis and gives a plan to get you a cure.
